Madigan Wins $6.8 Million Drug-pricing Settlement with Baxter

Atty. Gen. Lisa Madigan today said her office has won a $6.8 million settlement with Deerfield-based medical product giant Baxter International Inc., which had been accused of inflating prices of drugs used by poor patients to the state of Illinois.

Madigan filed a 2005 lawsuit against Baxter and other drugmakers, alleging the companies used practices that manipulated average wholesale prices of many prescription drugs. Such suits have been common by state and federal prosecutors against drugmakers across the country for the last decade. To read the complete article click here.
