The 10-woman, two-man jury deliberating for weeks in the WellCare medical fraud trial delivered a mixed bag of verdicts at noon Monday, finding all four health care corporation executives guilty of a some of criminal charges against them while acquitting the same defendants of many others.

On the more serious charge of conspiracy to commit medical fraud on each defendant, the jury was unable to reach verdicts and told U.S. District Judge James Moody they were deadlocked on those counts.

"We respect the jury's verdict," said Lee Bentley, with the U.S.Attorney's Office in Tampa, though prosecutors will meet to decide whether to retry the mistried counts.

Defense attorneys for the four executives charged in the sweeping fraud case declined to comment after the verdicts were read into the record. The defendants also declined to comment. To read the complete article click here.
