David Chizewer, Principal in the firm's Litigation Group, is quoted in "Damages Could Pile Up If High Court Affirms False Claims Ruling," published in the Jan. 4, 2019, edition of Bloomberg Law.

The article discusses a False Claims Act case currently before the U.S. Supreme Court, which could clarify that whistleblowers have as much time as the government to file False Claims Act cases, resulting in increased damage awards that would be paid by government contractors.

That more generous statute of limitations standard was recently adopted by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit to revive an Iraq contract fraud case.

"Since the statute's purpose is to empower whistleblowers to vindicate the government's rights, the Supreme Court will follow the Eleventh Circuit's approach," Mr. Chizewer said.
