Roger Lewis Discusses Fraud, Waste and Abuse Involving COVID-19 Financial Relief Funds in TAFEF Webinar

Principal attorney Roger Lewis addressed concerns surrounding fraud, waste and abuse of COVID-19 financial relief funds in a recent Taxpayers Against Fraud Education Fund (TAFEF) webinar.

Roger, along with fellow members of the COVID-19 Task Force Finance Subcommittee, presented an in-depth overview of the various government financial assistance programs for individuals and businesses through the enactment of legislation, including the Consolidated Appropriations Act, which includes additional funding to businesses under the continued Paycheck Protection Program (PPP). The panel also discussed specifics of the key assistance programs, the Pandemic Response Accountability Committee (PRAC), the Special Inspector General for Pandemic Recovery (SIGPR), examples of fraudulent schemes under the various relief assistance programs and considerations for qui tam practitioners when pursuing COVID-19 financial assistance fraud cases under the FCA.
